Stepping in Edinburgh after a long 6 hour train ride from London was magical. IF you’ve ever wanted to feel like you’ve stepped into a fairytale, one with ghosts, rainy poetry, and the best apple juice of your life, Edinburgh is your place. It’s the place where history whispers from stone walls, every pub has a story, and the skyline is crowned by a castle. Moody, and mysterious.
The day I arrived, the sky was a perfect cloudy grey, some rain and wind felt right after living in a desert all my life. Edinburgh thrives in cold gloomy weather. After dropping my bags in a cozy guesthouse in a castle themed hotel, I grabbed dinner at a nearby pub. I had a popcorn chicken and a to die for milkshake, dripping cam=rmel and cookie bits. It was impossible to finish. I recommend visiting The Boozy Cow while you’re here!
Again, as a Harry Potter fan, I have to say that this was J.K. Rowling;s muse. You can walk through Greyfriars Kirkyard to find “Tom Riddle”’s grave and grab a drink at The Elephant House where she wrote early drafts.
One of my favorite parts of this trip was Scotland’s ghost tours! Edinburgh has some of the spookiest stories in Europe. Haunted alleys, ancient vaults, and chilling legends. I also recommend preparing for rainy weather. Wander through bookshops, shops, and grab some scones to watch the rain. While visiting, a must try is Haggis. Very hearty and meaty, but better than you may think!
What I loved most about Edinburgh wasn’t just the castles or dramatic skylines. It was the feeling of not needing perfect weather or a packed itinerary. All we needed was some good walking shoes and maybe a scarf.
